I'm the happy owner of this screen used KITT miniature.
This miniature was made by the late Jack Sessums, a very talented man that was responsible for all the miniature work during the Knight Rider series. It has been used in many episodes( you can see it very clearly at the Knight of the Drones episode when KITT is destroyed by a missile). The special thing about this miniature is that it was the only t-top made, so it'sĀ* easy to see in which episode it was used. But before it was converted to a t-top for the 1984 season it was used as a hard top in 1983 in many episodes most important Goliath (note the underside of the car). Click at the pictures to see them larger, and sorry for the my rusty english... ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |

That is awesome! What scene was the open T-top used for? Any idea how they made the tires spin in the "quicksand" in the Goliath episode? Is there anything mechanical in the models, or an interior?

1) What scene the t-top used for?:
In many scenes, but you can see this miniature very clear at the Knight of the Drones when KITT in order to save Michael ejects him, this miniature is the car you see after the explosion. 2) How they made the tires spin?: With a drill machine. 3) Goliath: This model is not the one used at the quicksand scene. This model is the one that collides with Goliath and flips over. 4) Is there anything mechanical in the models or interior?: My model doesn't have an interior or anything mechanical, just a couple of cables (but I know that at least two of them had an interior, and there was one with a working scaner and one R/C. |

That's awesome, definitely a cool collector's item. I've been wanting to do a replica of the mini KITT. I even tracked down a 1/8 scale Camaro kit like the one used on the show, but I never bought it =/ Much like many of the things I want to do, but I think it would be a good project to work on. Brian Thone made a really nice replica himself.

That's great! I always wondered what happened to that thing. In college, I made my own Knight-Rider based movie with my Camaro on SVHS and used the Revell 1/8th scale model to crash through a tin-foil garage door wall. I had put small german light-bulbs into the four square headlights, so it looked pretty good! My movie was called, what else... The Knight Warrior!!

Sessums also did work on The Dukes and Airwolf as well if I'm not mistaken. Do a search on him, cuz there's a website dedicated to him. I remember stubbling across it a year or two ago when the topic of mini Airwolfs came up on an Airwolf forum. I think a lot of "mini" stuff from the 80's was done by Sessums.
If I may ask, where did you score that mini KITT? I know his family didn't let alot of his mini's get away because they didn't want people making huge profits off the man's work after he passed. Jack himself wouldn't sell anyone any of them either fr the same reasons. I knew of two others besides the one you have. Or maybe it's only two that I'm aware of that people other that Jack's family have. Killer find though regardless. Hang onto it. You have a piece of TV history there! Ripper
